This is a series that has developed out of a larger series called Improvisations. The Improvisations series exists from a need to explore personal images and patterns in a free, unrestricted manner. The images and patterns are from earth and sky, houses and flowers; the things that appeal to me most personally. The Three Part Harmonies came from the natural desire to link the images together and allow a conversation to exist between the images. Allowing for freedom of expression, as in improvisation in music, the harmonies are presented using many repeated images, and yet each one is somewhat different and the joy is in that difference. The harmonies exist in the beauty between the contrast of familiarity and the unknown.

The work is mixed media of acrylic paint, dried pigments, modeling paste and wall glaze on wooden panels.
