The Improvisations series comes out of a need to explore personal images and patterns in a free, unrestricted manner. The images and patterns are from earth and sky, houses and flowers; the things that appeal to me most personally. I use a variety of painting and drawing materials on both canvas and paper. The premise is much the same as in improvisation within music; while the theme might be the same, each piece will be different each time it is done and the joy is in the difference. In the same way that the daily routines of life repeat, it is the small differences within those repetitions that cause us to savor each moment within a life fully lived.
